It is good news for Italian bingo players once again after a regional court decided not to suspend laws on online bingo, a report from eGaming Review magazine said.
Online bingo operators started to offer games to the people of Italy late last year, but just a few months after the start of the operations, an administrative court in the Italian region of Lazio handed out a ruling that said that online bingo violates the rules of the country’s law. The court subsequently cancelled the decree that allows online bingo in Italy.
However, the Administrative Court of Appeal of Italy did not agree with the decision of the Lazio court. While the operators are waiting for the final verdict of the appeals court on March 23, operations will be restarted.
Italy is Europe’s largest market for online gambling. Bingo operators were the first ones to rejoice after the news on the decision being reversed.
The two leading operators, Playtech and PartyGaming, are expected to gain a lot in Italy and the rest of Europe. Playtech has just acquired Virtue Fusion and PartyGaming took over Cashcade in 2009. Britain’s Virgin Games may also likely be a player in the Italian bingo scene as the brand is already present in the country.
